Art and Design
At St Teresa’s, we aim to provide a high-quality art education that engages, inspires and challenges our pupils. We work to equip them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and edit their own works of art. As pupils progress through St. Teresa’s, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of the subject. They should also know how art reflects and shapes our history, and contributes to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
A St. Teresa Artist, will be fluent in creating independent work. This includes making informed decisions about which materials and tools to use to create. They will have a tool-kit of skills and techniques that they can confidently use and will be influenced by the styles of a wide variety of artists and designers We expect that our children will be able to analyse their own work as well as the work of others, considering how a piece could be improved or presented differently. We aim for our children to be able to consider the presentation of their work as an extension of the Art.
