Welcome to the Year Three Page
Trip to Liverpool World Museum
We had a great day out enjoying the different exhibitions on show at the museum including an Ancient Greece trail. We also participated in two workshops - Man, Monster and Myths and Natural Ancient Greece. These linked wonderfully with our Ancient Greek Myths and Legends Topic.
Ancient Greece Day
We had a great day enjoying and experiencing many elements of Ancient Greek person's lifestyle. The children dressed up as an Ancient Greek, became a God or Goddess and performed a traditional Greek dance. After break they enjoyed a feast of Greek food including feta and halloumi cheese, pitta breads, green and black olives plus dates and figs.
In the afternoon, year three took part in an Olympic competition. They had great fun completing jumping and throwing competitions, chariot racing and finally a marathon - or running four times around the playground.
Have a look at the children's blogs to read what their favourite activities were.
On 11th November, year three and the rest of the school remembered Armistice Day by making poppies. These were then displayed in our front gardens with help from some Parishioners from St Teresa's Church.
Trip to Morrison's to begin our Scrumdiddlyumptious topic. We learned about where fruits are from and had fun tasting different fruits and breads.
We have had a very busy and enjoyable first half term together. Please have a look at various pictures of projects, class trips and activities that have been taking place.
Our Class Trip to Blackpool South Promenade to find and investigate different rocks. We also worked in groups to create a sculpture on the beach.
This half term we have learned about volcanoes as part of our Tremor Topic. We learned about how a volcano is formed and how it erupts; we researched different volcanoes all around the world; wrote a non-chronological report about volcanoes with a partner; made and decorated volcanoes and finally wrote poetry about them. Finally we presented an assembly for year one and two sharing all our knowledge and creations. A very enjoyable topic!
