Reception - Willow

On 9th February Aidan's Auntie Claire and mum came into Reception to show the children their unusual pets; a bearded dragon called Spiro and a snake called Coco. The children had lots of questions to ask and learnt all about how to look after these fascinating animals. The children were keen to stroke the bearded dragon which felt very spiky. We also watched Spiro being fed live worms!

Visit from the Vet

On Wednesday 8th February, Robyn who is a vet, came into Reception to talk to the children about being a vet. The children were very excited and looked at various x-rays showing the type of things that dogs and cats sometimes eat, from small toys to mobile phones! Robyn showed the children how to put a bandage on properly, how to listen to their own heart beat using a stethoscope and how she takes a pets temperature!

On Thursday 2nd February two teachers from Tramshed, an inclusive Theatre Company from Blackpool, came to school to deliver a performing arts workshop for Reception children. The children played some listening games and had great fun working together to create "human machines".

Last week in R.E, Reception have been learning about how Jesus cured the sick. We have been talking about how we can follow in Jesus' footsteps and so we decided to host a bake sale to raise money for our school church. On Monday, we baked lots of cakes and made special invitations for our Year 6 buddies, we also planned some games for the buddies to enjoy whilst visiting us! On Tuesday we held our bake sale, it was a great success with both Reception and Year 6 enjoying time with their buddy. The proceeds of the sale will be donated to S.t Teresa's church, Reception children will be presenting the money to Father Chris as part of the offertory at the start of next term. Thank you to all parents for sending your child into school with a donation.

Fun Friday 27th January 2017

Making Kites

On Friday, Reception children and their parents/grandparents had a great time making and flying kites. It was probably the calmest day we have had for quite a while but it didn't deter the children from taking their kites outside to try and get them to fly.

Have a look at our photos below.

Pets and Vets

January 12th 2017

To help start our new topic on “Pets and Vets”, Mrs. Brice brought her new puppy, Jessie, into Reception. We enjoyed learning all about how to care for a dog and were amazed at the different tricks Jessie has already learnt to do.

Crocodile fun

What a fantastic morning Willow class had on Friday 11th November when parents and grandparents joined us in class for our Fun Friday activity. The activity was linked to the story we have been reading during book week – The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl. The task was to make an enormous, or small ,crocodile.  Together, the children and parents/grandparents created the most amazing crocodiles. A huge thank you to those who were able to join us. A great time was had by all. See the photographs below.

Keep a look out for the pictures of all our completed crocodiles next week

Reception Beach Trip
